Can anyone help?
I've just moved into a new flat and I was cleaning the hob of the Hoover make oven (whilst cooking something in the oven) the gas ignition started sparking and won't stop. I have turned off the electricity as i got a shock from the hob.
Is this because the elements are wet or could I have triggered a bigger problem?

Please help!

Is the ignition button jammed in? You could have caught it whilst cleaning.
Have you tried to release it?

make and model of the cooker would help..

some makes have an auto-spark when the knob is turned on.
you may have knocked the nob just enough to start the auto-spark, but not enough for the gas..
