Help Drain valve wont close!!!

I drained my CH system to clean the AAV as per my other thread "A tad foncused" and now the drain won't close properly, it will get to the point of almost tight then it just spins without closing the valve completely. I can open it again but when i try to close it the same thing happens. What can i do? It is the drain on the CH return if that helps at all.

This is what is at fault. i can tighten the outer knurled ring but the square nut through the middle is loose i can't tighten it so can't stop the flow of water any ideas?

Am i right in thinking that as this is on the CH return i could cut out the 'T' piece without water gushing everywhere ( the system is empty now and the water feed is switched off)

My intention is (unless the drain cock is fixable) to cut out the 'T' and if i can find a fitting long enough put a compression fitting in its place incorporating a drain cock, is that acceptable?

Alternatively same idea but a flexi so as to bridge the gap (assuming there is room to fit a flexi).

Ideas?

Lastly am i also right in thinking that i can still have the hot water on without it affecting this at all? Seems like a stupid question but i want to be a hundred percent certain.

It looks same make as the type they sell in plumb centre just by one and change the insides leaving body in place mind you usually just changing the washer is good enough

Yes namsag, just a couple of quid to replace, not sure it is worthy of debating 'alternatives'.

Thanks for those replies guys, can't get internals out so have bought a compression fitting with a thread on and a drain cock that screws in so if it happens again i can just change the cock.

I chopped out the offending T-piece and cock. Replaced it with a compression fitting T-piece 22mm x 22mm x 1/2" and screwed a 1/2" cock to it, that way any trouble in the future i can just unscrew it and replace.
