planning on building a fence just a little 4ft one onutside my house round the lawn. how do i go about doing this? apart ffrom getting the stuff like cheers j

what kind of fence.

picket?

slotted posts, panels and gravel boards?

wayney panels or featheredge?

straight top or decorative?

rock face gravel boards or plain?

featheredge with arris rail?

all timber including posts?

It would be easier just going to the wickes site and downloading their "how to fence" guide.

But thinking logically ... dig holes, put posts in holes, fix rails to posts, fix pales to rails.

nose,
you forgot mesh and concrete post construction.
Tut tut

The returned ones prefer natural stone wall construction for their perimeters.
No muck, no architects (of confusion), no lines, no plans, just the great outdoors and fresh clean air.

Ahhhh.

for a little fence like that post and rail would suit. Then you will not have to worry about rot.

you can use concrete posts and brown masonry paint to make them blend in

For such a little thing you need not set them in concrete bvut ram the soil down well round them

Here's one I did earlier
