Hi,
I'd like to get rid of this box.
I need to install a blackout railed blind and this box is just in the corner of my window.
The cables carry 50v dc and if I disconnect any I lose the broadband connection.
But if you see the pictures they look like connected straight forward. The rest of the components you see in the box ( diodes or resistants or filters or whatever it is...) look like not connected to anything. Looks like an old installation/obsolete box. Do I really need this box, or can I get rid of it?

Thanks.

And if anyone knows the amps supported through this kind of this installation.... I'm wondering if I can swap them to a thinner gauge cables. Thanks.

Bloody eck. That box and the fabric cable probably dates from 1930s. The long things are fuses and the blocks in the centre with the stud in are spark gaps to protect against lightning.

This is BT Openreach's responsibility.

If I were a BT technician I'd probably disconnect the black figure-8 drop wire and pull it back outside the window, fit an external block terminal BT66B or BT16A, bring in new external grade CW1308 wire through the window at a convenient point, and fit a new NTE box with filter faceplate.

Other suppliers are available.

But it would be illegal for me or you to do this as we're not...

Can't access outside without scaffolding. Removed already leaving only the cable. Thanks for the info I'll try to sell in ebay the full box.
thanks!!!!!!
