HELP: I have small holes appearing in internal concrete floo

Hi,

Small indentations and holes appearing on an area of concrete floor next to a wall(used to be a fireplace there). They start off the size of pencil lead and then turn into proper holes and some are about the size of a 2p. Also, 2"x6" peice of concrete completely disintegrated along side of block. It is getting rapidly worse.

How old is it?

It sounds like substandard concrete - mixed without enough cement.

Rectification: PVA and water, 50/50 mix brushed in might stabilise it if the use is very light and probably worth a try. If it's heavy use (foot traffic) then I'm thinking it'll need replacing, or digging out to where it's solid and recasting.

It is quite old. It is at least 4 years old and this problem only started two-three weeks ago.

Sounds a bit odd that it has just started happening. You haven't pulled carpet gripper up by any chance, and the holes are from the nails?
