Hi

I moved in to m house 2 years ago, i have always had a problems with the rads in the house not staying constantly warm.

I think i have Greenstar 28i Junior combi boiler and a very complex thing on the wall lol

The thing on the wall can from what i gather can make the heating come on or off 6 times a day lol! and manual mode and a hol mode. it only says Worcester on it so i went to the web site and it looks like it could be either DT10RF Digistat (MK II) or DT10RF Digistat optimiser (MK II). Any ideas

Also i have to keep upping the pressure of the boiler every week or so. It drops in the red so i top it up to just above the thick black line. Should i be doing this so often? if not then why am i

Ben

Posting a pic of the programmer may help to identify it.

As regards the pressure, you have a problem. Shouldn't need repressurising regularly. Try going outside to see if the copper PRV pipe (not the white plastic condensate pipe)that goes through the wall is dripping. Maybe pressure release valve or expansion vessel fault. Failing that, you have a leak somewhere, poss from rad pipes.

I have been outside and the cooper pipe is dry as a bone!! no drip nothing
and i have no leaks any where - well i dont think i have !! how can i find out lol

Is the house cold when the rads are cold?

Is there a flame on the thermostat display when the rads are cold?

What temperature does it show on the display?

Also, if your losing pressure that quickly you DO have a leak somewhere.

Recently we were topping up the pressure - from zero or almost - daily, sometimes twice per day.
No leaks whatsoever.

Engineer came out and changed PRV. Nope.
Another engineer came out and checked the expansion vessel. Nope.
A bit more investigating revealed a blocked pipe within the boiler was causing the problem. Blockage cleared.

Not had a problem since.

Explain the presure drop then if you arent losing water?!

A blocked expansion vessel pipe will cause erratic pressure flactuations and operate the PRV.

I would, if I could.
But I can't, so I shan't.

When I say 'no leaks' I mean in the pipework. Whether the PRV was letting by I'm not sure.

Gentlemen, the problem is fixed. Please use the past tense when referring to it.
