Hi all,

Im new to the forum so please be pateint with me.

Tonight the power has completely gone off within my premises. I have checked the circuit breakers to which none have tripped to off.

I have turned all of them off and back on again but no power has been restored.

I know this is not a power cut as the other properties on my row have not lost power.

Is there anything i can do to try and find out what it may be?

Regards

forgive me for my ignorance but i am not electrically minded.

RCD?

I havent checked anything other than what i thougt it may have been up to this point.

Regards

the RCD will be near or in your fusebox, it will look like the trip switches but slightly different and will generally not be marked with what curcuit it feeds.

There is every possibility that just the supply to your house has failed, if you have checked all you switches I would suggest you contact your DNO which if you are in Lancashire is Electricity Northwest 0800 195 4141

Thanks for that,

After looking at the picture i have checked the RCD as it stands and again no joy.

I have made enquiries with the power company who supplies the premises and i am awaiting a response from them "as someone needs to call me back"

sounds like main fuse.

That's one possibility others: -

cut-out fault
open circuit on service cable (or connector failure if overhead fed)
open circuit on one phase on main (neighbours being on other phases)
fuse operated in sub station (neighbours being on other phases)
if looped from next door cutout in either property

Loose connection to meter if changed recently, we get these every so often where the meter fitter is rushing so forgets to tighten everything

Well the meter has been in the address as long as us and that is 2 years now. The power company have said they are going to look into it and see if it is their fault and may possibley have to dig the lines to check.

His laptop battery must have run out.

Let us know what it turned out to be, always interested to know the outcome to store in my brain for future use.
