Hi,

I have moved in to a home about 10 years old, stripping vinyl wallpaper off a bedroom wall.

The vinyl is coming off on its own, in some parts the backing paper is also coming off, but also removing a layer of original paint too.

The problem is if I strip off the backing paper, some paint will also come off. Should I therefore also remove the paint? If so, what should go onto the plasterboard - just paint? I believe the plasterboard in question is pink/purple - fire resistant?

Thank you.

Hi,

what are you using to strip the paper and how are you doing it

The paint is probably contract emulsion youll need to carry on stripping...rub down whats left then seal with a thin coat of dulux stainblock..line and paper.
