Help removing Fire surround

Hi all

Need to remove paper from walls and fire surround was put on after , but for the life of me I can't find how it's fixed on

Any ideas?

Try lifting it straight up.

As said try lifting first for that sort of aftermarket surround they are often on hooks.
Traditional fire surrounds were fixed with two brackets either side, small tabs sticking out of the sides that are screwed to the wall and then covered with filler.

Perfect, worked a treat.

Did think that's how it was fitted but looks like it was stuck with paint behind. All removed now, so can strip wallpaper
