Help removing TRV cap !

Just use water pump pliers or footies on the gland directly below the black plastic bit mate. anti-clockwise to remove............... 
Given the amount of paint on that valve, it may be time for a new TRV??

Give it some gentle taps on and around the valve body with a small hammer.
