Have recently moved house, have had problems with the hot water from day one. I assume the boiler has been in since the house was built(97)
The boiler has been messed with at some previous stage due to the screws are missing from front cover and also the Piezo igniter is missing.
Also, in the Installation and Servicing book, the High Limit Thermostat and Pressure Differential Switch have been high lighted in the parts list, may have been replaced at some point?
To fill the bath, turn the tap on, takes a while for the boiler to fire up, once it does, then we have to regulate the bath tap. If the tap is opened too much, the water gets cooler but if not enough, the water gets too hot and the boiler cuts out. It cuts out at 20 on the dial but the dhw thermostat is set to max?
The shower is a bit more of a problem, turn it on half way, wait for it to get hot, then gradually open it fully. It is a powerful shower and just the correct temperature when the tap is fully open but the it varies in time before it starts going cold. The shower isn't that old as the pipes from the boiler to the mixer are like new.
I have been told that Vokera boilers aren't very good? Would this boiler benefit from a major overhaul or is it at the end of its life?
I have noticed on the web, that the prices for spare parts are quite cheap for this boiler.
Can anyone help me before I call a Engineer in? Is there a possible quick fix?
