our conservatory has been built for 12years. It has airbricks and damp proofing. When my husband lifted the tiles and weetabix flooring to prepare for new tiles to the floor the concrete underneath was wet. We have had heavy rain overnight and today there is a puddle of water from the outer edge all the way to the middle. He has now lifted the patio flags as they were laid right up to the conservatory without a trench being left around the patio/conservatory with pebbles. He was going to dig down approx 12 inches to create a soakaway around the conservatory however he got about a brick and a half down and has come across the foundations for the conservatory....any ideas greatly received

That's quite a high spec' for a connie! :p

Being largely exempt from building reg's means connie base builders can build them as they see fit. Knowing what miserly budget window companies allow for the bases generally means that they are built somewhat 'cheaply'.

I have refused several offers of work from upvc companies because they are not prepared to pay to have them built properly.
