Hi,
I drained the rads on our Ideal combi boiler to move them and put new valves on. I pressurised the system back up although I haven't bled the system as I still have one rad off. Why is my hot water not working though? The central heating is off and the pressure in the boiler is at one bar but there is no spark when the hot tap is turned, how can I fix this?

Many thanks.

Hi,
Having read some posts on here I think it is possible that I have introduced an air lock to the system, does this sound right? How do I bleed the system when I have two radiators missing and why would this affect the hot water, the pressure is at 1 bar?? I can hear the pumps going when I turn the hot tap on but it isn't igniting??

Thanks again!

I used to have a sealed combi boiler, when i removed the radiator i wanted to replace i just turned the TRV to * and closed the 'from' valve.
You should then be able to pressure the system as normal and then bleed the other radiators as normal.

On sealed systems, I was told that you should bleed them in sequence, but to do this you have to know what is radiator number 1 etc (it was easy to know this in my flat at the time).

However, on my boiler I am sure I did not need the CH system pressured in order for the hot water to work, as it heats the water as you need it straight from the mains (unless you have a small reserve tank in your boiler).

Do you have a pilot light or is it an 'ignition when required'?

Is your alter ego Arfur Job? You apparently have no understanding of a closed heating system. If you have air all over the place you wont be surprised there is no , or at least not enough water to circulate. This thing called an "air lock" is just air. Do all of the job and bleed the system. Then report back.

To give the professionals half an idea of your system you could start by telling them what make and model of boiler you have!
