I some pictures. The wooden square you can see is where the bracket sits that the fan is fitted into the bathroom wall. The black hose comes off the fan, and goes upwards into that hole in the ceiling. I imagine it must go into a central kind of duct because I can smell smoke from other flats through it, and hear noise and the wind really clearly.
