Help with how to remove this!

I've removed some tiles that have been put to replace the skirting where a fireplace was removed.

The tiles came off really easily but there's this a couple of centimetres of this stuff that no matter what I hit it with just won't come off!

SDS chisel drill should remove that easily enough.

Club/lump hammer and decent cold or bolster chisel.
