This was the best way I could think to title this post...

The background:
My wife and I want to convert our attached 1 story garage to become a downstairs WC with shower and a room for various use (spare bed, office, kids room etc)

Before getting anyone in to quote we want to do some drawings so we can best see how to divide up the space for the WC and access etc - the work will of course require stud walls and I guess plasterboarding & skimming the existing walls - so my question I guess is...

What sort of allowance should we make for the thickness of internal stud walls (with plaster board etc) and again allowance for existing walls being plastered etc.

I know I'm going to have missed some information out on this before anyone can answer so please feel free to ask away and I'll supply any additional info to help!

Muchas gracias for any thoughts

Stud timbers can vary:
A standard door liner would be 106mm, so bearing that in mind:
*Stud timbers around 75mm mark
*12.5mm plasterboard each side of timber (=25mm)
*and approx 3mm of skim each side (5mm-6mm ish)
*which brings you to about 106mm (ish)
