Hi all,

I have been rendering my garden walls (first time actually doing it) and I have only got the scratch coat on at the moment however it seems very weak and powdery.

I used plasticiser with a 5(sharp sand):1cement mix any ideas what went wrong.

Can I recover this with the top coat?

Thanks in advance

How did you measure your mix out? And how much Plasticiser did you use? And how did you mix it?

The quanities were all measured using buckets and it was allowed to mix for a fair time in a mixer. I believe the problem was too much plasticiser/waterproofer. This additive is different to ones I have used before when I have mixed up for other people and I believe I have used to much.

I have removed the soft render and I am going to start again with the correct amount of plasticiser

Thanks for the response
