Hi,

I have recently been having problems with my Glow Worm Betacom 30.

First off, it kept losing pressure from the PRV and now that has been replaced and is fine. It doesn't leak at cold pressure.

Now since installing the new PRV the boiler needs to have a pressure above 1.5 bar (cold) to fire up. Once the boiler and cental heating has warmed the pressure obviously now rises above 3bar, therefore dumping water out the PRV. This causes the problem as when the boiler cools again the pressure drops to around 1 bar and this isn't enough to fire it.

I must add, when the first PRV went faulty and kept making the boiler lose pressure i kept topping it up from the filling loop for two weeks before I took action to replace it.

Help and info would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Paul

from reading other posts and threads I gathered that.

Does it need re-charging? or replacing?

How much would it roughly cost for either of these. As I guess I wont be able to do it myself.

Thanks again

read the FAQ on exp vessel re charging

it is very diyable

especially if you follow the manual that came with your boiler, if you dont have it download it, you are not breaching any gas safe regs!!

Thanks for the feed back.

There is no info on re-charging the expansion vessel in the manual. I'll read the faq's and get back if any more info is required.

Cheers

Well i re-charged the expansion vessel which i found quite simple and all seems ok for now.

Thanks for the heads up and have probably saved me a few quid.
