Can anyone please help, I thought I would give the Hive a go at self installation! My existing programmer seems to work hot water and heating so thought the new hive controller would fit straight on but there seems to be lack of wires? the programmer is fitted directly onto a wiring center,

You have got enough wires. Number 2 is not needed (nor is number 1 with your type of system {S plan})
Disconnect the red, yellow and blue thermostat wires and put a link between the terminals where the red and yellow wires were connected.
Job done!

Thanks for your reply john, so I literally just fit the hive to existing programmer base and then link the 2 cables in thermostat?
