Honeywel CM927 wwireless programmable thermostat

Can anyone help us before the cold weeks come back.......... Our 18month old CM927 has flashing "spanner and battery" symbols and a message saying "INTERNAL ERROR". Have done all the battery change stuff but no different, location can't be a problem cos it's spends most of it's time less than 2 metres away from boiler receiver, have also tried varying locations to make sure.
Is there a reset to do or is it a buy new/contact installer as the book says.
Big thank you to anyone that can help, and maybe save the pennies.
