I'm installing a Galaxy G2-20 panel with mk7 keypad, C079-2 G2 RF portal and two AG8 bell boxes. All is going fine and I think everything is communicating okay (RF portal communicates 'tamper switch open' to keypad when cover removed so seems to have been recognised by the main panel and the keypad is working as per the manual).

Next bit is to connect all the detectors. I have a pile of wireless DO800M door and IR800M motion detectors. Only problem is that I can't find any description in the manual about how to get the wireless detectors to connect to the RF portal.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a manual/description of how to do this? Is any kind of specialist tool required to program the RF portal?

Cheers,

I don't think the G2 engineering manual covers registering the RF sensors. It's pretty easy though:

The portal is configured in the panel menus.

Go to the zone you want to configure with an RF device:

Enter 52 (Zones)
Select zone and 'ent'
Enter 5 (RF Options)
Enter 1 (Serial No)
Enter *

Now trigger a tamper on the device you want to setup for that zone by opening the cover, or if already open, by pressing the tamper button switch. The panel is waiting for that devices tamper signal which will also send the device serial number.

The serial number will populate automatically, so just press 'ent'.

You can now setup the zone function for the zone as normal.

Hi,

I have a brand new galaxy alarm and have installed the RF portal. When I go to 52.2 RF Zones it says 'No Entries'. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like your portal isn't configured onto the bus properly. Which panel and portal version do you have and what address did you select. If you change address, you need to power cycle the module.

Also, when adding any device to the bus, you need to enumerate it. This requires either a system restart 51.17, a power cycle or the engineer exit sequence eng code, then 'esc'.

Once enumerated on the bus, the red LED on the RF portal should be giving a quick flash for about .2 of a second. Long alternating flash means it's not seen on the bus.

Hi

Very old thread i know but does anyone know how to view the device signal strength? Also what is the minimum advised signal strength please?
