Are all roomstats interchangable?

Can a Danfoss roomstat be easily swaped for a Honeywell?

Can the backplate remain?

It has 3 wires.

Two wires are only switch wires and the 3rd neutral wire is not always needed.

Don't think the backplates are the same.
Make double sure you know which wire does what; all to often the "earth" is used as a live.
