Hi all

Reassurance and layman's terms requested if poss...

My parents' heating was staying on overnight when the timer was not calling for it. The boiler was checked under Worcester Bosch boiler cover and found to have a clean bill of health. The guy said he was pretty sure it was a faulty two port CH valve - but he couldn't do anything as they aren't allowed to touch anything beyond the boiler.

As a straight swap of the valve head is within my (limited) capabilities I did that, but it did not solve the issue.

My dad then tells me that the HW two port valve had also been replaced a few weeks ago and looking at the wiring of that I could see that the white wire had been connected in the block, as per the pic. (I had isolated the white for the one I replaced, as per the installation instructions.)

So I disconnected and isolated the white, tested and all seems to now be well.

My question is - have I solved the problem properly, and why (stressing the layman's terms!) would connecting the white for this HW valve cause the other CH valve to stay open?

Many thanks in advance for any explanation. (If, as it seems, this is the cause of the problem I'm not too impressed by the CH engineer who replaced the other valve for them as the instruction about the white wire is pretty clear.)

Cheers
Brandon

Thanks for the confirmation Ian
I have isolated it.
Does this connect to the heating valve for other set ups then?
cheers

yes used as a relay on other setups not required on your setup, admittedly the honeywell wiring centre can be a bit misleading, but it is set to be used as either Y or S plans so understandable, you have an S plan system for clarity
