hi all,

We've got a Hoover HMA 28CX which appears to have died. We had a major kettle blow-out which tripped all the circuits and the fridge seems to have stopped working - the interior light works but thats about it. Its about 5 years old

Any thoughts on what it might be - i.e. is it likely to be economical to get it repaired or shall we just chuck it and get a new one ? Seems a shame as its only 5 years old but I guess repair costs can sometimes cost more than a new appliance ?

Thanks in advance

Cheers

Steve

OK i have tested the thermostat (I think!) by disconnecting it and joining the wires that were going into it (brown and black) - no joy

Phoned one repair shop who said unless it was the thermostat then it was probably not worth repairing - shame really as the rest of it is fine

Any more suggestions ?

so its not the old problem off normal[not frost free]f/freezers where the only thermostat is in the fridge so when the temperature drops below around 5 degrees the fridge is cold enough so dosnt demand the compressor to run so the freezer thaws out

nah - fraid not ! we had a big power spike which I guess fried something? (leaking kettle tripped the main circuit breaker)
