hoover performa 1100 Drum stops & starts

Hi, i have a problem with a Hoover Performa 1100 washing machine, the problem is that when on a cycle the drum stops turning, To check it i have emptied it & tried the slow spin cycle which works fine, but on the fast spin the drum stops & starts & when it does turn it is only slowly.
I have checked the belt etc and can find no problems. could this be a programer fault or possibly a motor coil?

Check for worn motor brushes.
