Hoover WD420 problem

Hello all

I have a hoover wd420 when you start a wash program in the beginning of program the drum spins half way then comes back to its starting point does'nt complete full turn?

Is that normal it spins later on but i am concerned its not washing clothes properly

any help appreciated.

Do you mean a Hotpoint wd420?
Check the motor for worn carbon brushes.

yes sorry my bad it is the Hotpoint wd420 model you are right.

sorry for my ignorance how would i get to the motor and check carbon brushes.

Take the back cover off & you'll find it at the bottom of the tub. Remove belt, disconnect motor connector plug & unscrew 2 fastening bolts to remove the motor. Mains plug out first of course.

Oh...and while you have the belt off you might as well check the drum bearings for up & down slack (lift the drum by hand through the door opening). Then spin it to make sure it isn't sticking or making any grinding sounds.
