Hoover WDM120 - Final spin cycle doesn't drain machine

Wash cycle seems to work normally, but the final does not drain water and so the spin is reduced and ineffectual. Spin works with half load or after I have blown down the waste pipe til I hear bubbles in the machine.

I extracted £6.05 from the filter last week. Do I need a new pump, or is it likely to be something else?

check pump to see if fins are still on pump shaft or if broken off?or see if pump working?

The pump turns and does drain, but usually only after a 'prompt' e.g. when I blow down the waste pipe (machine switched off!), or sometimes when the spin cycle only is subsequently selected.

might be your drain pipe is too far down the drain tube, take out your pump and clean it.

I think the pump works OK when it decides to - there is plenty of flow when I restart the spin ... it's just getting the pump to run in the first place. Either it is not working (but I think it is), or the message isn't getting through to the pump.

Final post on this one. Turns out that the pump (which I bought from a dealer on Ebay for about £15) was perfectly alright - though the cost was offset by the £6.05 I found in the old pump! I had checked the end of the pipe from the machine at the entry to the pump, but it turned out to be a small child's ballet sock stuck at the other end of the pipe (where it takes the waste water form immediately under the drum).

When I had blown down the very end of the waste pipe, it must have dislodged he sock sufficiently on some occasions to allow the drum to drain normally (but not always).

The size of the sock and the age of my youngest suggests that it had been there at least 2 years! My wife is a ballet teacher - blooming ironic.
