just fitted new tower rail in mum s house bunged the f and e tank when removing old rad connected back up to horrible 10mm pipe . put central heating on no heating so went up in loft located two bleed nipple things on flow and return one had like best way i can describe it black rubbery piece of dirt blocking end up . removed bled ok but continually this black stuff keeps coming any help would be much apprecited thanks all in forum steve.ps mums house a bungalow if that helps thanks again
 
Just in the process of replacing some rads in our house, couldn't believe the amount of sludge that has come out the the old rads. No wonder our house never used to get very warm. I think the plumbers solution was to put bigger rads in by the looks of things.

Will the addition of Fernox MB-1 prevent this type of buildup? (after a flush of course).

Only after a complete power flush with active chems like DS40.

Imight be wrong but I'm suspicious that MB-1 coats any iron oxides left behind and makes a nasty sort of slimy stuff. Anyone else come across this?
