On a job yesterday & the Spark was amazed at how I was connecting all the end feed fittings, he said he'd never seen anything like it!! 'Ach, I've been doing it this way for years'.
Pffffttt Sparks eh!!!

I normally use string and just tie the pipe to the fittings, saves getting glue on your fingers as its buggerish to get off.

I like to use a bit of solvent cement on the push fit fittings and pipe. Belt and braces approach. Proper job.
