hot water and heating turning on and off all day???

hello id be greatful for any advice. my heating and hot water is hot and cold all day.. the boiler fires up for about 30 seconds then cuts out. and does this constantly. so we get a hot tap that goes hot then freezing and the heating never really gets hot. the house is freezing and we cant get a bath.. please help.. many thanks..

and to top it all off the floorboards and rads are tapping and baging all the time its driving me maaaaaaaaaaadddddd

The obvious advice is to call a boiler engineer.

If you wanted us to consider what might be the problem you would have to tell us the boiler make and model!

hi there thankyou for getting back to me so fast. its a (vizo 24/28 condensing wall mounted combination boiler, and i would call an egineer but the credit crunch has hit us hard and every penny counts at the mo. would be greatful for any help in getting my family warm again.. thanks..

It also counts to keep your family washed and warm!

Its difficult for me to guess exactly whats wrong with your boiler. Hopefully the boiler pressure is about 1.5 Bar?

It sounds as if the main heat exchanger may be blocked but there can be so many other causes like a weak/blocked pump.

I think a competent boiler engineer may be your only option.

These are the cheapest boiler on the market and as such they were usually installed without power flushing the system so dirt problems would be the most common expectation.

Its a pity you dont live locally where I could sort you out without ripping you off. Even so its unlikely to come to much less than £136 if its dirt related.
