hot water gvoes off when I have a shower intermittantly

Hi

I do not know if anybody else has suffered a similar problem. I have an ideal Mini C28 Combi boiler. Quite often I will have a shower and the hot water will go off. When i Check the boiler I find that it is not igniting. I leave it for a few minutes then it all seems to work. It is driving crazy, can somebody help.

Ignition failure, assuming there is a spark, would be a gas related problem and as such would need the attention of a RGI.

I think it's more likely to be a blocked secondary heat exchanger. Boiler gets hot, can't dump the heat quickly enough and turns off. That's potentially a DIY fix, ( remove the s h e and replace it or clean with acid - do a search) but these boilers can be temperamental as hell on HW now that they're a few years old.
