we have a small studio flat with an IDEAL response 80 combi boiler. Two problems we have experienced: the hot water in the shower isn't hot enough. I've adjusted the water flow handle on the boiler to max. which, according to the user guide, will help. It doesn't. Also, the overheat thermostat reset needs resetting on a regular basis. We turned the rad temp control right down (was told this may help) but we still need to reset on a regular basis. The water pressure is OK, the room where the boiler sits is well ventulated, the boiler was checked relatively recently and the engineer did mention it was old (i reckon 1997) and not the most reliable. He thought replace rather than repair may be a best option if it fails to work reliably.

I'd appreciate any views on the hot water; overheat thermstat and replace or repair? cheers.

You need to see what the flow rate is. Yours can heat 9 litres per minute by 35°C. Are you expecting too much?

It is a difficult boiler for many engineers so you will need to find someone who understands it. Its also not terribly reliable.

Overheating usually means blockages!
