he tested the boiler with both the heating and hot water on at the same time but not on their own.

by a gas safe plumber because a cowboy left us in the lurch and sorry i meant a 3 port valve

he tested the boiler with both the heating and hot water on at the same time but not on their own.

That is rather unusual. He was either in a real hurry to get out the door, or he knew perfectly well that he had bodged it, and just showed a working boiler to "prove" that he had earned his money.
When you change a diverter, you test that the diverter works by testing first heat only, then dhw only, and then both.

What was the reason he changed the diverer in the first place?
