I have a combi boiler controlled by a Danfoss timer. The central heating works with no problems but my hot water is staying on constantly unless i turn the power switch off. The timer seems to be turning on and off at the correct time but doesn't actually stop the hot water. When it all started, it tripped the mains power. Any ideas?

The hot water will be on with a combi, it fires as soon as you open a tap.

Start by answering a few simple questions

Boiler is a ?

Model is ?

It's a combi boiler in the kitchen, which is a Potterton Suprima. I also have a hot water tank upstairs in the airing cupboard. When it was working properly, the combi seemed to turn on and heat the water in the tank upstairs and the combi didn't turn on every time you use a tap. The combi only worked at the times set by the timer. Now it stays on until the tank is heated, then shuts off for about 5 mins and then back on to heat it up again, even if no water is used. And it goes on like this unless I turn the switch off.

Bit of a clue there, although it could have been a dodgy combi install from a cheapo cowboy trying to save a few bop on the timer.

Well, that's my idea any way.

Probably the diverter valve in your Suprima combi

Not 100% because I've not even seen one
