I have just moved to a new house with a boiler fed hot water and central heating system. We have a hot water cylinder. The water from the taps seems very hot, but the temperature on the tank is only around 55. Do I need to turn down the heat from the boiler or reduce the temperature more on the cylinder thermostat?

You could try reducing the cylinder stat to 50, but normally I would not advise this, as this is getting too low and near to the point that any bugs in the water will not be killed off.
