Morning all,

I’ve got a Gloworld Betacom2 28 boiler, and over the last few weeks the hot water starts off ice cold (which is understandable during winter) gets to temperature, and maybe 30 seconds later it goes ice cold for 20 seconds, back up to warm. My partner says it stays cold in the morning when she uses it, however when I use it at night, it stays warm but I do stay in as long but I also use it when the heating isn’t on

It happens with the other taps, there’s a definite temperature change but they stay warm but not hot. The boiler definitely kicks in

any ideas what it could be? Any questions let me know

Sounds like the plate heat exchanger is blocked, does the boiler switch on and off when the shower goes hot/cold ?

so I’ve had a test.
I tried the kitchen tap, coz it’s a foot away from the boiler, and the boiler kicks in and it stays warm/hot

the shower - I turned the water dial 1/4 turn, cold water left it for a bit, still cold and I checked the boiler, the water wasn’t being heated

I then turned it 3/4 so it let more water through, and hot water. I checked the boiler to confirm.

I turned it back to a 1/4 turn, cold water again and the boiler wasn’t active

the 1/4 turn, from what I remember, was always enough to heat the water.

Try taking the shower head off and retry, some shower heads can be very restrictive especially in a hard water area.

hey again, I tried that, and I even cleaned the shower head. Hot water definitely kicks in once the dials turned a certain amount. It has been in the house for ages, 5+ years or so
