Hi everyone,

I need some assistance in this strange issue. When I turn both the hot water and central heating on, the water that comes out is brown? But when the hot water is on by itself, the water is fine?

What's going on?

Thanks a lot,

Tom :)

I take it that you mean hot tap water!!

What system do you have??

Is it a combi?
Is cylinder indirect or primatic ??
Have you recently done any alterations to system??

Thanks for the reply. Sorry, yes, hot tap water. OK, it's not a combi boiler, we have a boiler which leads to a tank (I imagine this is the cylinder). No alterations have been made to the system recently.

I would imagine that you have a pin-holed heating coil within your hot water cylinder.

If this is the case, then try running your hot water heating (not domestic) and see if the vent above your cold water cistern is operating. For this test it is important that you do not use your hot water taps until you have worked out if this is happening or not.
