Hotpoint aquarius tumble dryer tripping electrics

I was given a tumble dryer off a friend and it worked fine for about a week and now all of a sudden once its been on 15-20 mins it trips my electric. I was just wondering if anyone knew what could be causing it to do this. Maybe the filter needs cleaning as i haven't tried that yet cos i don't understand how it could be working fine and now its not.
