My Hotpoint Aquarius WT540 "Extra Rinse" (LED 5) is Flashing.

The machine won't switch on/off from the button.

On the previous wash the "Extra Rinse" lamp had been illuminated continuously and the cycle failed to complete.

The manual:
http://airkooldomestics.co.uk/resources/WT540.1P.1G manual.pdf

shows this code as "not applicable"

I've cleand the connections on the switch & LED panel and on the power PCB.

I've also changed the Capacitor C17 as a precaution, but nothing has changed.

I'll have a look at the door switch

Any ideas would be gratefully received.

Disconnect the lead from the consol panel and unplug from the wall for 5 mins.

I did actually do this the other day.

It seemed to work, but then failed to complete the wash cycle. The same problem has recurred.

There must be a fault somewhere.

Does it stop after a certain time. Does the on off light flash as well. Does water enter when put on rinse only prog. That no 5 light flashing on its own is not a error code.

I have just disconnected and re-connected the switch/LED board again.

The machine is now working again.

I have also cleaned the door lock connector contacts.

I have started the machine, but I suspect that the machine may not complete the cycle.

What could be causing this need for a 're-set'?

Thanks

Who knows. One of life's mysterys. Static electricity spikes from airwaves micro waves. Same as a reset on iPhones sky / virgin boxes iPads computers etc.

Ah yes, but this machine has been working fine since 2006.

It has begun failing in the past few days.
