hotpoint aquarius wt540 washing machine fault

When I put the press on button all lights are flashing. This settles after
after a few minutes and the selected programme light goes on but the machine does not start
I have tried various different programmes, clean filter and switched off
machine for a while to no effect - any suggestions please?
