Hotpoint AquariusWF740. tumble cycle does not reverse

WF740 Washing machine 4/5 years old. Normally used on F Program (40' non colourfast colours).

During tumble portions of cycle drum rotation does not reverse, although sounds as if something is trying to latch, Switch ? Relay? Eventually completes program.

Similar symptoms on Rinse ans Spin.

My first thoughts not pumping out properly, but I've checked all water outlet piping and filter, all OK.

That's right they dont reverse.

Ok I thought it reversed slowly at times to even up load.

Difficult to say exact symptoms. Going through cycle, when washing, rinsing, pumping out, does not move in steps slowly, pulsate, and makes odd "latching attempt" noise. Spins OK.

I guess I need to reconnect everything and try another cycle and to be more specific.
