Hi all, been working on the washing machine above which had not emptied of water.
Located filter within the back of the machine, took off black flexible hose after slackening 2 jubilee clips and clip to pump. Cleaned the hose after removing twigs, fluff, and 72pence !
Put my hand up to element to find a further washing powder tablet net.
And removed pump, very hot, and dismantled to find pull string round the impeller and a straw inside!
Felt pleased with myself and put all back together, with filter pushed into housing and rubber hose with small rubber locator square in right place under filter.
Filled machine, but the machine kept filling. Finally stopped with a couple of the lights flashing together. Emptied and took hose apart again and blew into hose which leads to pressure switch, heard the pressure switch click, and put back together.
Tried again and water got to 'normal' level, however, now it wouldn't heat up!
Started from scratch again with a tester on the leads to the heater and no current goes to the heater at any stage for 10 minutes of the start of the programme !
Please has anyone any thoughts on what might be the problem?

Spot on , you rock rocks .
It was put on a 95deg wash and 20 mins in you could feel the heat through the door.
Will post back if any further prob, but what a stupid idea not to have a filter at the front.
Shame on you hotpoint

Thanks again rocks :D

Guess what the new ones do but a simple thing like hair clip coin button will jam it up , the ones at the back take everything so your better off with the rear one. ;)
