my washing machine won't start. The red keyhole flashes constantly and its as if the door is not connecting shut. Any ideas. Cheap repair? Thanks in anticipation

hotpoint Ultima washing machine WMA74 won't start!

I seem to remember having the same problem with an Ultima and had to call an engineer out who changed motor brushes. Apparently, this is also the 'code' for brushes as well as door lock? Worth taking a look in any case as it could be a cheap repair.
....all done. It was the door lock which my husband replaced for 10.95. Result. Thanks for your input.
