Hello, Could someone please advise on how to fill in these holes. I include links to the photot so you know what i am dealing with :-

Bottom left hand corner of the window, lots of the old plaster has blown because over the years the window has moved slightly

now to the top left of the window, more blown plaster

Now as you can see the wood supporting the window should i be looking to fill this in with tmore than one coat plaster, would i need to support the window with something. Or can i just knock off the blown plaster, fill in then hang lining paper?

many thanks

I would go for exterior polyfilla..its a bit like a smooth sand and cement mix.

Dont try and fill iit in one hit..build up layers allowing them to dry between each layer.

Hello
Just what I was about to sugest! I would also think about using a watered down mix of PVA, this will stop the filler from drying out too quick and cracking.

D

thanks guys, so pva before i put the polyfiller exterior on

That job needs to be looked at, don't waste your time trying to polyfilla those holes.

The plaster around the window needs to be hacked off completely if its blown, some will probably go back to the brick.

I would first use bonding, then 2 coats of skim remembering to PVA any bare surfaces.

But hey, what do I know..................

thanks for another reply, i have showed it to a guy at work who says it looks pretty serious and i should get in a building inspector. It may be worth mentioning that there are also cracks to the external brickwork in the same position and the window ledge outside has cracked in the middle showing obvious signs of movement. Now this could have happened since the house was built in the 1880's and movement may have now stopped. But i would like to be safe, what do you guys recon? photos of external cracks :-
