I have this hatch in my floor and i am about to apply wooden floor. The floor is 1,1 cm/11 mm tall and i want to find a solution so the gap between the hatch and the flooring wont be that big. The hatch opens over halfway - over 90° which also means that the gap gets even bigger. But it seems necessary for it to be able to stand on its own. Hopefully some of you have ideas or experience, which will be greately appreciated!!

Does the hatch have to be captive with hinges ? Could it be free to lift up and out while still flat ? Would need two lifting points instead of one as at present and extra support under the side that is now hinged. Also consider if it would be safe to be able to remove the hatch cover from the hatch and thus leave the hole with no quick means to close it.
