The hot water on my Vaillant VUW236 is not warm enough (even on full setting) so I am going to try to remove and clean the DHW/secondary heat exchanger. I have bought some replacement O rings and 3/4” fibre washers of dimensions recommended by Vaillant for this model. However when I first started trying to remove DHW Heat exchanger (not successfully) there did not appear to currently be O rings fitted on at least two of the pipes, so I am wondering where the O Rings are supposed to go (I have never used them before). Do they go between the pipe and DHW heat exchanger (so the metal of each does not touch). Or do they go next to the nut, a bit like the olive in a compression joint? Or something else?
