How Do i calculate what size rads i need for my rooms and also how do i work out what size boiler i need?

You do a heatloss for the building. Decide how you want your hot water to be generated. Choose the boiler type and then the output.

Experienced engineers can do it in very little time. Amateurs and newcomers can spend ages doing it.

You can get a thorough survey done but they can cost a grand or more and only viable if you are looking at renewables - and have a big house.

You can get it from t`internet it`s something like "radcalcs.com"

That will give you general idea

Barlo Heatloss Calculator!

Go to http://www.quinn-radiators.co.uk/files/ and download software.exe (the program) and heatlossmanual.pdf (instruction manual).

Run software.exe which will install the program on your computer. Read the manual and do all your calculations. This will give you radiator sizes for each room.

It is also worth going to http://www.sedbuk.com/ and checking the "recommended boiler size". This uses the Whole House method, ie does not work out the rads in each room, but the figure given by this method should agree fairly closely with the total given by the Barlo Program.

Have Fun
