Hi
We have just run across an old micro bore that has really confused us. The flow and return are linked together at each of the 3 manifold sets. 22mm Flow T's off, elbows back to each manifolds then elbows back to T into the return. Thus making a square loop from flow to return through the manifold. There are 3 sets of manifolds as the system works its way up the room space. There is an even more mysterious 15mm pipe, labeled secondry heating return, that emerges half way up the gravity feed indirect hot water cylinder and disappears under the old lagging in the direction of the old bathroom, but I am guessing that this is an old bidet or shower connectiion. So any body know what's going on here. How does it work, what is separating the hot and cold return to the rads - surely not a pressure or temperature differential? Are the manifolds divided down the middle? The system seems to work, not well but then its fairly old. Before we start dicking around with it - client needs a new boiler - I would like to know a little more. Anybody come across this type of system before?
