how does websense work

i is because of websense i cannot access this forum at work. i then started to wonder how it worked surely they cannot have every website in the world on there database

Websense both filters and blocks based on particular sites and categories of sites. Hence blocking Forums would impact all forums, blocking all webmail sites would block hotmail, googlemail etc! You can also block specific sites e.g eBay but this get much more complicated due to the number of domains.

Hope this helps. Basically you are either added to a group which does'nt block forums or you wait until you get home!

Or you set up a proxy filter (eg Toonel) and visit every site that you think you're adult enough to visit at work, whilst not impacting on the job you're being paid to do.

We cant get the social network sites.
Not that I want them, but the younger people just abuse everything.
