How long will a bellbox battery last during an alarm?

Good morning,

GF has contacted me to say that our house alarm is going off and the keypad is totally dead.

I've got her to turn the MCB off, and disconnect the battery from inside the panel.

How long is the bellbox battery likely to last? its an old Gardtec system probably about 10 years old, last serviced 3 years ago.

Most modern bells (1992 onwards) have a 15 min approx timer , if not you just have to wait for the battery to fail,probably about an hour.

Thanks, it did.

Not sure what caused it though, but had to change the panel fuse when I got home today.

Time for something a bit more modern I think, but thats for another thread.
